Sunset - Scarlet and Purple

Occasionally the very last light of the day produces the most intense colours; violet, scarlet and crimson. Here the colours have left the sky and have saturated the land instead, bringing drama to a quiet West Coast evening. Drying bales of hay take on a rosy hue while a patch of cerise and gold brings a little bit of India into a New Zealand landscape of cabbage trees and flaxes. Night is already rustling in the dark leaves at the front of the picture as well as in the indigo ripples of the sea behind. Soon the colours will fade as darkness falls.

About me

I was born in the UK and grew up in Kent "the Garden of England" - but only 10 miles South of London. For as long as I can remember, I loved to write and illustrate my own stories. I knew all the flowers, garden birds and neighbourhood cats & dogs - so my pictures were always buzzing with life.

When went on holiday, to Devon or the Lake District, I'd take a sketchbook to record the different creatures that I saw. I always wished I could live in the countryside.
